Mutations

A mutation is a shimmering overlay painted across a companion's whole silhouette: 25 of them exist. A pet carries at most one at a time, and it changes nothing but how they look. Every swatch below is the raw overlay texture; how it reads on a given pet depends on that pet's own colours, the blend mode and the strength it was applied at.

Where a mutation comes from

Hatching. Every egg in the Celestial Forge has a 10% base chance to roll one, plus 1% for each point of Instinct the parents average above 10. A rolled mutation picks its own type, blend and strength: you get what the Void gives you.
The Mutation Workshop. 200 🔷 applies any mutation on this page to a pet you own, with the blend mode, strength and tint entirely your choice. It replaces whatever the pet already had, and you can preview the result before spending anything. Your very first application is free, once per account.
Removing one. 150 ✨ strips a pet back to no mutation at all, whether it was bought or rolled at hatch.

Forging a custom pet never rolls one. A pet created with Prisms starts clean and buys its mutation in the Workshop afterwards.

Blend modes

The same overlay looks completely different depending on how it is mixed into the coat underneath. A hatch roll only ever picks one of the first three; all 5 are available in the Workshop.

Screen

Brightest. Lightens the pet and keeps the overlay vivid: best on dark coats.

Overlay

Highest contrast. Deepens darks and brightens lights, so the pet's own shading shows through.

Soft Light

Gentlest. Tints the coat without washing out its base colour: best on pale coats.

Multiply

Darkest. Presses the overlay into the coat and deepens every colour: best on pale coats you want richer.

Normal

Boldest. Lays the overlay straight on with no blending, so the pattern reads exactly as drawn: lower the opacity to let the coat show through.
